Who are you and how does your company help your clients?

At Brickfield Education Labs, we offer a comprehensive platform to improve the accessibility of Moodle course content. Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit provides accessibility auditing and remediation of course content with improved editor features and creation of accessible file formats. This enables organisations to find the issues in their web content of their Moodle LMS, fix common issues using these tools and also future-proof their course content.

Set up in 2019, Brickfield Education Labs combines more than 50 years of experience delivering educational solutions, together with a passion for accessibility, inclusion, and good user experience.

Brickfield Education Labs strives to be the first choice in accessibility solutions for the Moodle LMS.

Have you attended a Moodle Moot before?

Yes! In our first year we sponsored a number of events, including the Mountain Moot, the Global Moot and the UK & Ireland Moodlemoot 2020! We are looking forward to being a platinum sponsor for MootIEUK again this year. Our co-founders have helped organise Moodlemoots in the UK & Ireland for 10 years now, and have spoken at Moots around the world!

What is the title of your presentation(s) at this year’s Moot?

The team at Brickfield will be presenting some very interesting topics over the three days including:

  • Accessibility Tips for Teachers
  • Accessibility – how is the journey going towards full compliance?

We will also have Mike Churchward our CTO host a developer’s workshop as part of Dev Jam.

Give us a brief description of what to look forward to.

We have lots of fun sessions lined up for MootIEUK21 and will be covering various aspects of Moodle and accessibility. Over the three days, the team will discuss course creation for both educators and programmers.

Gavin Henrick and Karen Holland will share guidelines for course developers when building courses with activities and content to have better accessibility.

There will also be a short discussion sharing some thoughts on the general journey towards full compliance with accessibility standards. Keep an eye out for this one!

Why have you chosen to present this topic?

With the recent push to deliver more teaching online, it is more important than ever to ensure that the teaching materials and assessments are usable by everyone.

Our team at Brickfield shares a passion for ensuring online education is accessible for all. That is why we will be presenting tips and tricks for ensuring good practice of creating course content for both educators and developers.

Complying with the accessibility laws and regulations for digital content and applications is now essential, and we want to make it easier for people!

Share with us one tool or technique you or your client implemented while using Moodle which has benefited you and your organisation!
