We’re Titus! If you attended this year’s MoodleMoot Global Online or a UK and Ireland MoodleMoot in the past, you may have seen us at our stand or know us from some of the sessions we have presented.
We’re an award-winning Premium Moodle Partner providing innovative Moodle solutions for workplace learning, education providers and training companies around the world, including organisations such as Network Rail, British Weightlifting, The Royal College of Surgeons, The University of London and UCL.
Have you attended a Moodle Moot before?
We have. We always make it a priority to attend the UK and Ireland MoodleMoots and where possible, other MoodleMoots around the world.
We were a sponsor at this year’s MoodleMoot Global Online, and it was an incredible experience to attend a Moot provided through the Moodle Workplace platform. We were a little apprehensive at first about how it would all work. As everyone will know, one of the main components of any Moot is the social aspect, and we weren’t sure if this would work as well online. But we were truly blown away by the event, the team at Moodle did a fantastic job and I’m sure the same will be said for this upcoming event. On top of this, our senior developer Marcus Green, who will be presenting several sessions at this event, was invited last year to be a guest speaker at MoodleMoot Japan for his work on quizzing through the Moodle App. Marcus has been a regular attendee at MoodleMoots and only last week showed the team a receipt he had for the first-ever MoodleMoot back in 2004 – £15 for the full event and cake!
What is the title of your presentations at this year's Moot?
The Titus team will be presenting a total of 5 sessions at the event.
They are:
Future Course Formats – Presented by Stuart Lamour – A session on utilising design to engage both learners and tutors.
Rubrics Explained – Presented by Marcus Green – A session aimed at users of the ‘assignment module’ looking for more advanced marking.
Quizzing for Language Teaching – Presented by Marcus Green – A session which will cover the benefits of the Moodle Quiz tool, particularly for language teaching.
Who develops Plugins? – Presented by Marcus Green – A session aimed at people interested in the background to Moodle plugins and who want to know how to better evaluate their options.
The Wordselect Question Type – Presented by Marcus Green – A session explaining the Wordselect Question Type plugin, a third-party interactive quizzing tool.
Give us a brief description of what to look forward to.
As mentioned above, the social side of MoodleMoots is one of the things that make the events so unique and special. As a company, we regularly attend trade shows and other similar events but we never experience the kind of community that we do at Moots.
Also, with the release of the new LTS 3.9 versions of Moodle and Moodle Workplace, we’re really interested in seeing some of the new and innovative ways people are using the new feature set.
Why have you chosen to present this topic?
Being a MoodleMoot sponsor presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our work and our services to other Moodlers. We could use our sessions to talk about why we’re the best and why people should speak to us, but we’ve found that this isn’t the best approach for Moots.
The ethos of collaborative learning and introducing people to new Moodle ideas that they may not have been aware of previously is a core focus of these events. This is precisely what we aim to do, share new and unique ideas about Moodle that will hopefully give people new and innovative ways to utilise Moodle at their organisation.
Share with us one tool or technique you or your client implemented while using Moodle which has benefited you and your organisation!
A little tool we have been using since the launch of Moodle Workplace is a plugin called Auto Enrol. This is an existing plugin, but we have been using it to ensure users across multiple tenants can all gain access to shared courses.
The courses in question were set to be accessible via the site homepage. With Moodle Workplace’s Tenant functionality, core enrolments didn’t allow for these to be accessible at a single point. 15 separate versions would have to be created and then allocated to the 15 tenants. The Auto Enrol plugin, when enabled in the course enrolment area, bypasses this and allows all users to gain enrolment at the point of logging into the LMS system.
We have, along with the thousands of others that have used this plugin, found it particularly useful 🙂
